Speakers / Pendant Speakers

Pendant Speakers.

Suspended pendant speakers from 3W to 15W with 70V-120V taps and coaxial or silk dome tweeters, for open ceilings, atriums, cafes and retail interiors.

About pendant speakers

A pendant speaker solves the problem of a room with no ceiling to mount into — an exposed services ceiling, an atrium, a double-height retail space or a warehouse conversion. It hangs on a cable at whatever height puts it a sensible distance above the listeners.

That control over mounting height is the real advantage. Rather than firing from a 6-metre structural ceiling, a pendant speaker can sit 3 metres up and cover its area evenly, using far less power to do it.

The range covers 3W to 15W on 70V-120V taps, with coaxial, silk dome and voice coil tweeter options and pure virgin ABS enclosures.

How to choose pendant speakers

01

Hang them at a consistent height

The coverage pattern of a pendant speaker is set by how far it is above ear level. Keeping the drop consistent across a space is what produces even sound; mixing heights in one area produces obvious loud and quiet patches.

02

Lower power is usually enough

Because a pendant speaker sits much closer to the listener than a structural ceiling would allow, it needs less power for the same perceived level. The 10W models cover most cafe, retail and reception applications comfortably.

03

Consider the visual weight

These are visible objects. The compact SD-908A at 130 x 190 mm reads as a small fitting, while the cylindrical SD-908 and SD-928 at around 700 mm long are a deliberate design element. Choose according to how much presence the space should give them.

Common questions

01When should I use pendant speakers instead of ceiling speakers?

Whenever there is no accessible ceiling void to recess into, or the structural ceiling is too high for overhead coverage to work — exposed services ceilings, atriums, double-height spaces and industrial conversions.

02How high should pendant speakers be hung?

Aim for roughly 2.5 to 3.5 metres above floor level in a space where people are standing or seated. Much higher and coverage spreads too thin; much lower and they become an obstruction.

03Do pendant speakers work on a 100V line system?

Yes. All models here are 70V-120V constant-voltage designs and share an amplifier with wall and ceiling speakers on the same line.
