Introduction
Syskonics International respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through the website at syskonics.com, why we collect it, how it is used and shared, and how you can contact us about it.
This policy covers the public website only. It does not cover information you provide to us by other means, such as a direct email, a telephone call or a meeting, although we handle that information with the same care.
Information we collect
Information you provide directly
The website has three forms, and each one only collects what is needed to respond to you. You choose whether to submit them.
- Contact enquiry — your name, email address, telephone number and, optionally, your company, city and message.
- Quotation request — your name, email address, telephone number and, optionally, your company and message, together with the product the request relates to.
- Catalogue request — your name, email address, telephone number and, optionally, your company and city, together with the stated purpose of the request.
We do not ask for financial details, payment information or identity documents through this website, and you should not send them to us through these forms.
Information collected automatically
When you use the website, our own analytics records certain events so that we can understand how the catalogue is used. Each recorded event includes:
- Your IP address and your browser's user-agent string, which identifies your browser, device type and operating system.
- The type of interaction — for example viewing a product page, selecting an enquiry button, or downloading the catalogue.
- The product or item the interaction related to, and the date and time it occurred.
Separately, Google Analytics collects usage information such as the pages you visit, how you arrived at the site, approximate location derived from your IP address, and general device and browser information. This is described further under Cookies and Third-party services below.
Information we do not collect
The website has no user accounts, no shopping cart, no online payment and no newsletter subscription. We do not collect payment card details, and we do not operate advertising or cross-site tracking technologies on this site.
How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- Respond to your enquiry, quotation request or catalogue request.
- Provide the product information, pricing or technical guidance you have asked for.
- Communicate with you about an enquiry and, where relevant, about a resulting order.
- Understand which products and pages are of interest, so that we can improve the catalogue and the website.
- Monitor the performance, reliability and security of the website.
- Detect, investigate and prevent misuse, abuse or fraudulent activity.
- Comply with applicable legal and regulatory obligations, and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
We do not use your enquiry details to send unsolicited marketing, and we do not use them for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember preferences and to gather usage statistics.
Cookies used on this website
- Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics to distinguish visitors and sessions and to compile usage reports. These are not essential to the operation of the website.
- Administration cookies — set only when a member of our team signs in to the private administration area, to maintain that session. These are not set for ordinary visitors.
We do not use advertising, retargeting or social media tracking cookies on this website.
Controlling cookies
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and most browsers allow you to block them entirely or to be warned before one is set. Blocking analytics cookies will not prevent you from browsing the website or submitting an enquiry.
Google also provides a browser add-on that allows you to opt out of Google Analytics measurement across websites.
Third-party services
We use a small number of third-party services to operate the website. Each processes information for the limited purpose described.
- Supabase — provides the database, file storage and administration sign-in behind the website. Enquiry, quotation and catalogue request details, and the analytics events described above, are stored here.
- Google Analytics — provides website usage measurement. Google processes usage and device information, and approximate location derived from your IP address, on our behalf.
- Google Maps — the contact page embeds a map. When that page loads, Google may receive your IP address and set its own cookies, subject to Google's privacy policy.
- Our hosting provider — serves the website and processes technical request data such as IP addresses in server logs, as is standard for web hosting.
The website also links out to WhatsApp so that you can start a conversation with us. Following that link takes you to a service operated by a third party under its own terms and privacy policy; we receive only the message you choose to send us.
These providers act as service providers to us. We do not authorise them to use your information for their own unrelated purposes.
Sharing your information
We may share information in the following circumstances:
- With the service providers listed above, to the extent needed for them to provide their service to us.
- With professional advisers, such as accountants or lawyers, where reasonably necessary.
- With courts, regulators or public authorities where we are required to do so by law, or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
- With a successor entity, in the event of a reorganisation, merger or transfer of the business, subject to this policy continuing to apply to the information transferred.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own independent marketing purposes.
Data security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information collected through the website. These include serving the site over encrypted connections, restricting access to the administration area to authenticated members of our team, applying database access controls, and limiting access to enquiry data to those who need it in order to respond to you.
No method of transmission over the internet or of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not send sensitive information, such as financial or identity details, through the website's enquiry forms.
Data retention
We keep information only for as long as is reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy.
In practice, that means enquiry and quotation records are retained while we are in contact with you and for as long as needed afterwards to maintain a record of the enquiry, to support any resulting supply relationship, to meet legal or accounting obligations, and to resolve disputes. Website analytics records are retained for the period needed to understand usage trends. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or otherwise remove it from active use.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may have some or all of the following rights in relation to the personal information we hold about you:
- To ask what personal information we hold about you and to obtain a copy of it.
- To ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- To ask us to delete information where we no longer have a valid reason to keep it.
- To withdraw consent, where our use of your information relies on consent, without affecting anything done before withdrawal.
- To object to, or ask us to restrict, certain uses of your information.
- To complain to the data protection or consumer authority in your jurisdiction, where one applies.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and some rights may be limited where we are required or permitted by law to retain information.
Children's privacy
This website markets professional and commercial audio equipment and is intended for business and adult users. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If you believe a child has provided us with personal information through this website, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the website, our practices or applicable legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date shown at the top of this page.
We encourage you to review this page periodically.
